Pawsitive Results Critter Academy is owned and operated by Laurel Scarioni, and offers training and behavior modification services throughout Sonoma County, California. Laurel Scarioni is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and a graduate (with honors) of the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers. Her dog, Tina (bottom left) came to her in 1996 from the Petaluma Animal Shelter with serious fear and separation issues. Now she has her Canine Good Citizen certificate, has titled in agility up to the Excellent level, and assists Laurel in private lessons and group classes. Butch (bottom right) was adopted from the Bakersfield SPCA in 1995 and quickly fell into the role of professional couch potato. Laurel is holding the newest addition to the family. Edgar was adopted from Border Terrier Rescue on May 21st, 2006 at the age of 1 1/2. Although he arrived with no prior training, Edgar has proven to be a quick learner and enthusiastic student. He is in training for both obedience and agility competitions. The other human in the picture is Laurel's husband Athen. Although he is loving and supportive, he is not involved in the training business- except when a dog is being boarded and/ or trained at their home! The family also includes 2 cats (Cassidy and Calvin) and 2 parakeets (Bones and Magnolia).
Laurel loves working with animals, but feels her real job is helping owners learn to communicate more effectively with their companions. Once owners understand their pets' needs- and can communicate their own needs clearly to their pets- wonderful relationships blossom!
While animals need clear leadership, the use of forceful training techniques is counterproductive. Laurel utilizes state-of-the-art, scientifically-based training techniques that help you become a leader that your pet WANTS to follow! Since Laurel's training techniques do not rely on physical force, they can be safely used by anyone, and with any animal!
